Should I Stay, or Should I Go? Are Intentional Job Hoppers Good Hires?
There was a time when employees expected to work for one company for years, if not their entire career. It showed stability and loyalty and you were rewarded for spending your career providing value to that company. Likewise, HR valued loyal employees versus job hoppers. The stigma with job hoppers was they probably don’t get along with others, can’t meet the job requirements, are unfocused, and/or not committed to the company.
Important Questions to Get to Know Your HR Candidate
One of your objectives in interviewing an HR candidate is to get to know them. Having a conversation lets you determine whether they’re a good fit for the position, your team, and the company. To better understand your candidate’s background and qualifications and determine whom you want to hire, you need to do a dive deeper on some topics.
When Was the Last Time You Reviewed Your Hiring Strategies?
With the low unemployment landscape, hiring managers can tend to settle for a “good enough” candidate that “seems like a decent match”. As recruiters and business partners, we get it. We also have decades of experience helping hiring managers understand how to better define hiring criteria based upon the organization’s current business challenges. If you are using the same criteria and job posting language repeatedly, perhaps reviewing your sourcing strategy is in order.
